Chevrolet Camaro: History of tiny, but angry car

August 11, 1966 the factory in Norwood, Ohio. We've got the first Chevrolet Camaro. The car was the answer to previously released Ford Mustang.

General Motors led the preparatory work on the Camaro since 1958. In the work on the creation of the car also participated Pontiac designer Bob Porter.
By the time of the release Camaro had an extensive range of enhancers, starting with a 6-cylinder in-line engine, ending with a V8 engine volume of 327 cubic inches (5.4 liter). Also customers were proposed Small Block 350 engine with a volume of 3 inches (5.7 liters) with a capacity of 295 HP.

In just three years, the company has released almost 700 thousand Camaro, and in February 1970, Chevrolet introduced the second generation model car with a brand new design, brought to mind the suspension and chassis, improved sound insulation and more powerful engines.

In 2010, Chevrolet introduces the fifth generation of the legendary model. Design director Tom Peters, who currently is the owner of a 1969 Camaro, said that the designers in the development of the fifth generation Camaro used the first generation model as inspiration. The final appearance perfectly reflects the heritage of all previous generations of cars, and also carried something new.
